Ingredients

  • 2 pound tri-tip steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup apple juice
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  • In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper. Rub the mixture evenly over the tri tip steak.
  • Place the tri tip on the grill and cook for 6 to 8 minutes per side until it reaches your desired level of doneness (medium rare to well done).
  • Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing into thin strips.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the apple juice, red wine vinegar, honey and smoked paprika and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until slightly thickened. Serve over grilled tri tip slices.
