Best Sauce for Smoked Chicken Wings

I always recommend using flavors and sauces you like best, so when it comes to saucing up these wings, there’s nothing that can go wrong with anything chosen.

To make awesome Buffalo wing sauce, simply heat 1 cup of Buffalo sauce mixed with 2 Tablespoons of butter over medium heat.

Stir the sauce and butter until they are combined, and do not heat them until the mixture begins to boil or the melted butter will separate from the sauce. If you’re a fan of BBQ sauce on your wings, check out my Apple Jalapeno BBQ Sauce!

Q1. How do you get crispy skin on smoking wings?

The key is to start with dry wings – so pat them down with a paper towel before you start. Then, you want to cook them low and slow, until the skin is nice and crisp.

This can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your smoker. Once they’re crisp, you can then add your favorite sauce and finish them off.

Q2. How long does it take to smoke wings in a smoker?

They can be smoked in a smoker (Editors Rating 9.4 out of 10) in as little as two hours, though it is recommended that you allow three to four hours for the best flavor. Wings can be smoked at a temperature of between 225 and 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

To ensure that the wings are cooked evenly, it is important to turn them several times during the smoking process.

Q3. Do you flip wings when smoking?

There is no need to flip the wings while they are smoking. The low cooking temperature and indirect heat will ensure that the wings cook evenly without flipping.

So, next time you smoke chicken wings, there is no need to flip them – just sit back and enjoy!
